The comforts of Animals in a time of War and Isolation.
When I saw this photo, it made me pause for quite some time.  This photo was taken in War torn Syria where the war atrocious and crimes against women, children and the elderly have been very well documented for the world to see.  I saw this picture and the amusement, tomfoolery and gaiety of the Syrian men pictured here, I found to be quite intriguing.  Entangled with their bullet proof vests, automatic rifles and the deserted, desolate street behind them, they have engaged this cat and made him or her for that matter into a soldier.  They each wear a yellow band of fabric to unify them and clearly the cat is not amused.  To see such playfulness coincide with war is compelling.

This picture to me speaks volumes of the humanity of a man who clearly is at war.  The deserted street, the coldness of the city, and the sheer gentleness of his touch on this cat is heartwarming.
